Update 4/23/02: Turns out Starlene has some cracked ribs, and isn't due back at work until she gets better.
Tuesday, April 16
A very lucky morning · One of Metro's helicopters went down Thursday morning, the 11th. Engine failure is the most likely cause. Helicopters are designed to autorotate, so if the engine fails, the ship will essentially glide to the ground (and land with a huge bump!) at 35 mph. Pilot David Meyer and KRLD's John Wolf walked away without injury. KTVT/KLTY's Starlene Stringer went to Parkland complaining of back and neck pain; she was treated and released. KVIL's Perri Reavis went to Presbyterian Hospital-Plano and was kept overnight for observation. We are extremely lucky that nobody on the ground was hurt, and that damage was kept to a minimum.
