Zip Zap Zop! · First day of the ComedySportz workshop today. Much fun was had by all. We covered the history and philosophy of ComedySportz (their schtick, basically) and lots of trust work and character building, plus gibberish and mime. Tomorrow, it's scene work.

As the Mold Turns · The environmental inspectors gave my house an all-clear for mold today. (If you haven't been following the saga, a hot water leak under the house in October facilitated the growth of mold, plus warped all the hardwood floors. The floors and subfloor was removed from the house, as well as several walls.) So now all the mold is gone, and the contractors and insurance agent will have their way with the house now.
Reason no. 326 to always wear clean underwear · I was down at WFAA today upgrading the PowerPoint installation we use to make the traffic maps. After finishing the install and making sure the machine was running, I slipped into the restroom to take care of some other business. On my way out, I ran into meteorologist Greg Fields on his way in. (Whom I had actually never met before, despite us working on the same morning show for 2 years.) Which begs the question: Is there any more awkward place to meet someone famous? What do you do when Mr. Famous Person is in the urinal next to you? Say "Hey, it's great to meet you" and extend your hand? Um, no.....

("What?" I hear you ask. "You hadn't met someone you're on the same show with?" 'Tis true. I don't actually work at WFAA. I work at Metro's palatial* studios in Farmers Branch and my voice goes to WFAA over a broadcast telephone line.)

* This is actually not true.

185 traffic reporters walk into a bar · Next weekend I will be taking part in a weekend intensive improv class with ComedySportz! It'll be my second improv class ever, if you count the one with Neil Muscott of Theatresports Toronto last year at WhoserCon. I know I'll never be the next Colin Mochrie, and will probably never get on stage to improvise professionally, but it'll be a terrific experience. Best of all, since it's a combined workshop and audition, it'll be free, as opposed to their regular price of $100. YAY!
